Elf the Musical, the hilarious tale of Buddy, a young orphan who mistakenly crawls into Santa’s bag of gifts and is transported to the North Pole, opens at the Temple Civic Theatre this Friday, Dec. 9, and other performances will be Dec. 10-11 and Dec. 15-18. Sunday performances will begin at 2:30 p.m. and all other shows start at 7:30.
The thunder rolls into The Expo on Jan. 13-14 for the annual return of the No Limits Monster Truck & Thrill Show. The action starts at 7:30 p.m. both nights.
The Southern Soul Music Festival, featuring Tucka, will be at the Bell County Expo Center on Dec. 17. The show begins at 8 p.m. and tickets range from $90 to $150 and are available at bellcountyexpo.com.
The local Ronald McDonald house, which provides a home-away-from-home for families of children receiving medical care in a Temple hospital, is in need of a little help this holiday season.
The next movie in the Central Texas Film Society’s monthly lineup is An American in Paris, the story of three friends struggling to find work in Paris. Things become more complicated when two of them fall in love with the same woman. The movie will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18, at the Cultural Events Center. The movie and popcorn are free.
Inflation is making it a bit more difficult to deck the halls this holiday season, but despite higher prices, more than 94 million US homes will have a Christmas tree this year and 43 percent will have outdoor decorations. A group of veterans and active duty soldiers around Bell County are making sure local kids have a merry Christmas. The group is collecting toys, books, blankets and other items to present to children who likely would not receive gifts.
